The compass employs Alnico II rear earth magnets mounted on a V-cut sapphire jewel bearing to deliver quick, smooth azimuth measurements. The compass also takes vertical angle measurements to +/- 90 degrees (or 100 percent grade), with 5-percent grade scale increments. And thanks to the "conventional" suspension design, the compass offers premium performance when used within a balancing region. Add in a die-cast-aluminum body and you have a virtually indestructible compass that stands up to heavy use and rough handling.
Professionals will delight in the Pocket Transit's high degree of precision, with azimuth and vertical accuracy of +/- 1/2 degree (with 1-degree graduations).
